Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026/9/1
Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains how Hibiki (“we”, “us”, “our”, or the “App”) collects, uses, processes, and protects your personal information.
Information collection and use
We follow the principle of data minimization and process only information necessary to operate the App’s core features:
- Diary and life records: diary text, sleep records, to-dos, calendar-related content, and other records you create. This data is stored on your device by default. If you enable iCloud sync, it is synced to your private Apple iCloud database. We do not operate a server for diary content and do not upload diary text to our servers, use it for advertising, sell it, or train public models with it.
- City and weather: with your permission, the App temporarily uses your device location while in use to obtain local weather and convert it to a city name. We do not store precise coordinates in the diary database or iCloud. City names and weather summaries may be stored on your device and synced when iCloud is enabled. To provide weather, precise coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo. Its published privacy notice says troubleshooting logs may contain coordinates and may be retained for up to 90 days.
- HealthKit step count: with your permission, the App reads the step count for the viewed date to display daily activity context. Step counts are not written to the diary database, uploaded to our servers, or synced to iCloud.
- PRO purchase information: when you purchase Hibiki PRO through the App Store, Apple processes your payment information. We receive only confirmation from Apple that a transaction completed, and do not collect or store payment details such as card numbers.
- Support email: if you contact us by email, we process your email address, message, and any device or version information you voluntarily provide to respond and investigate. Do not send unnecessary diary text, precise location, or health information.
Data sharing and disclosure
We never sell your personal information. Information may be processed or shared only when necessary in the following circumstances:
- Third-party service providers: to provide features, the App uses Apple iCloud, location and geocoding services, HealthKit, the App Store, and Open-Meteo. When you enable iCloud, diary records sync to your private iCloud database. When requesting weather, your device sends location coordinates to Open-Meteo. Open-Meteo's published privacy notice says its server logs may retain IP addresses and geographic coordinates for troubleshooting for up to 90 days.
- Legal requirements: when required by law, legal process, litigation, or mandatory requests from government authorities.
The App does not require an independent account, does not use cross-app or cross-site tracking, and does not show third-party advertising.
Permission management
For sensitive permissions, we:
- clearly explain the purpose when first requesting permission;
- request permissions only when a feature requires them;
- allow you to withdraw granted permissions at any time in device settings; and
- explain that withdrawing permission may affect related features but will not prevent core journaling features.
Location is used to show local weather and a city-level daily location summary. HealthKit is used only to read step counts. If you deny or withdraw these permissions, the related weather, city, or step-count information may be unavailable.
The App does not provide an independent account. You can enable, disable, or manage Hibiki’s iCloud data in your system iCloud settings. Turning off iCloud or deleting the App does not automatically and immediately remove data that remains in your private iCloud storage.
Children’s privacy
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that such information was collected, we will delete it promptly.
Policy updates
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. After an update, we will notify you prominently in the App. If you continue using the App after an update, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and accepted the updated policy.
